Zachary K. Hall (b. 2001) is a Kentucky-born composer/pianist, living in Richmond, Ky. He is a senior piano theory composition major at the Eastern Kentucky University School of Music, and is active in the EKU piano studios and EKU choral department, as a member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), and ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). His music showcases a distinctive fusion of minimalism, folk/religious influence, and romantic undertones, creating unique and captivating works. Hall is the winner of the 2023-2024 EKU ICCA Outstanding Composer Award.
Some of Hall’s recently performed works, compositions, and arrangements include; Beautiful Savior SATB with Piano (2024), Wild Asters SATB with Piano (2024), My Mother's Table (EKU School of Communication documentary score)(2024), Sing We Now of Christmas SATB a cappella (2024), Heavenly Light SATB a cappella (2024), Even the Night (Shall be Light) SATB divisi a cappella (Hinshaw)(2023), My Old Kentucky Home for unaccompanied SATB divisi, a capella(2022), Adeste Fideles SATB a cappella (2023), and Silent Night SATB a cappella (2022).
Aside from his budding compositional career, Zachary fills his time working with multiple on-campus groups/organizations. Previously he was assistant music director for Ekos, EKU’s premiere on-campus a cappella group (2022-2024). Zachary is a registered composer with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) as well as a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and is active with their on-campus chapter and chamber ensemble.
In the past Zachary has worked with the Chancel choir of First Christian Church Richmond. KY, EKU University Singers, EKU-ACDA Chamber Choir, EKU-Ekos, and various local high schools to commission and premiere new choral works. Since 2023 Hall has been employed by First Christian Church in Richmond, KY as a Choral Ministries Scholar under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters.
Zachary has released one studio album entitled “For Lia: The Piano Music of Claudio Santoro, 12 Preludes, (2025) as well as several singles from his numerous choral premiers with EKU Choirs. All are available for streaming on every major music platform.
